چکیده

New analytical upper bounds are derived for the performance of symbol-by-symbol maximum-likelihood (ML) Abend– Fritchman-type detectors for multi-amplitude/phase-modulated digital sequences transmitted over time-dispersive (generally) time-variant linear channels introducing finite Intersymbol Interference (ISI) and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). The proposed bounds are obtained starting from a novel form of the standard Bhattacharyya bound and take explicitly into account the allowed decoding delay. Both deterministic and random multipath slow-fading Rayleigh transmission ISI channels are considered. Simulation results obtained for some test channels of practical interest show the tightness of the derived analytical bounds.

TCMs Matched to ISI Channels: New Results for Combined Symbol-by-Symbol Equalization and Decoding

(1) This work was partially supported by European Union under the ACTS AC104 MOSTRAIN project. Abstract: The design of good TCM schemes matched to ISI channels requires that analytical performance bounds are also available. In this paper, starting from an application of the unionBhattacharyya bound, upper-bounds for the performance of the theoretically optimum combined Symbol-by-Symbol (SbS) Ab...

A symbol-based fuzzy decision-making approach to evaluate the user satisfaction on services in academic digital libraries

Academic libraries play a significant role in providing core services that include research, teaching and learning. Usersatisfaction is an important indicator for evaluating the performance of library service. This paper develops a methodfor measuring the user satisfaction in a group decision-making environment. First, the performance of service isevaluated by using questionnaire survey. The sc...

New results about analysis and design of TCM for ISI channels and combined equalization/decoding

In this letter new upper bounds for the performance of the optimum combined symbol-by-symbol (SbS) Abend–Fritchman-like equalizer and decoder are presented, and a related criterion for the actual design of good trellis-coded-modulated (TCM) schemes effectively matched to the distortion introduced by the intersymbol interference (ISI)-corrupted transmission channel is developed. The actual appli...

Iterative correction of ISI via equalization and decoding with priors - International Symposium on Information Theory, 2000. Proceedings. IEEE

Abstmct An iterative algorithm is presented for joint equalization and decoding of data that has been transmitted over intersymbol interference (ISI) channels. This differs from well-known “turbo e q u a l h tion” (TEQ) methods, in that the IS1 is removed with a soft-input soft-output (SISO) equalizer via linear or decision feedback equalization (DFE). The data is encoded with a convolutional c...

Minimum-error-probability single-user detection for ISI-impaired narrow-band multiuser systems

The goal of this contribution is to give some insight into the cochannel interference (CCI) suppression capability of novel symbol-by-symbol-type maximum a posteriori probability single-user receivers for nonspread-spectrum multiuser narrow-band systems impaired by intersymbol interference and CCI. The presented multiuser receivers minimize the error probability in the detection of the desired ...
